CommonScene is a small community. These rules exist so it stays one. They are part of the Terms of Service.

Treat people decently

• No harassment: following someone around the site, piling on, or repeatedly contacting someone who wants to be left alone.
• No threats of violence, and nothing that encourages harm to another person or to themselves.
• No hateful or abusive content aimed at people for who they are.
• Do not post someone's private information, and do not post photos of people who have asked you not to.

Be yourself

• Do not impersonate another member, a real person, or the official CommonScene account.
• One person, one account, unless you have been told otherwise.
• Do not use an account to evade a ban or a block.

Content

• No sexual content, and nothing sexualizing minors under any circumstances.
• Nothing illegal, and nothing that helps someone do something illegal.
• Only upload images you have the right to upload. CommonScene accepts images only — the upload system checks the actual file, not its name.
• No spam, bulk messaging, scams, or repetitive promotional posting.
• Profile customization can be as loud as you like. It may not be used to impersonate the site's own interface, hide or fake site controls, or trick people into clicking something they did not intend to.

Leave the machinery alone

• Do not attempt to access another member's account or data.
• Do not probe, scan, overload, or attack the site.
• Do not automate the site in ways that make it worse for everyone else.
• If you find a security problem, report it through Help & Contact rather than demonstrating it on other members. Finding one and telling us is welcome.

Tools you already have

• Block. Blocking is mutual and quiet. The other person is not told. It cuts off messages, comments, friendship and visibility in both directions. The official CommonScene account cannot be blocked, because it is how you reach support.
• Report. Reporting sends the content to the moderators with a copy of what you reported. The person you report is not told who reported them. Filing a report does not punish anyone by itself.

What happens when a rule is broken

Depending on what happened, moderators may remove the content, warn the member, suspend the account for a period, or remove the account. Serious cases — threats, sexual content involving minors, attacks on the site — skip straight to the end of that list.

Moderation is done by people and will not always be immediate or perfect. If you think a decision was wrong, say so through Help & Contact.
